Quilt Considerations

Part of my job is to help you find the right batting and thread to accomplish a "look" that reflects your personal style. Take a moment to learn a little about some of your options.

Batting

Take into consideration your batting choice, it is an important part of what makes your quilt a quilt.  A cotton batting will give you that “heirloom “ look while a mid loft poly will add “definition” to the quilting.  Consider the use of your quilt, if it’s going on an adult bed then a cotton batting would be a great choice.  However, if it’s going on a child’s bed or a sofa throw and will be a “dragger,” you may want to consider a poly batting as it will hold up better in the wash.

My personal favorite is from Quilter's Dream and, in my humble opinion, this company offers the the best cotton and poly product on the market today.  It comes in several weights or lofts which gives you the opportunity to select what is appropriate for your quilt. The Warm company offers Warm & Natural and Warm & White, long-time favorites for batting. They are tried and true and an excellent cotton product.

Thread

Thread choices reflect your personal taste and style and can enhance the look of your quilt.  A neutral thread will blend with your fabric and showcase your piecing. A contrasting thread will make the quilting pattern more prominent.  I have to admitt buying thread is just as addictive and as much fun  as buying material... so I have plenty to choose from!

Without exception, I use only the best products available in the construction of your quilt. I select from leading manufacturers like:

A&E Signature 100% Cotton Thread

Superior Thread "King Tut" 100% Cotton Thread

Superior Thread "Sew Fine" Poly Thread
